Angels, “querubines”, mermaids and mexican virgins
The pieces in our workshop are built from traditional processes, such as assemblages and wood carving, or mixed techniques with organic materials such as natural fibers, seeds, textiles, etc.
In the realization of our characters, we take back ancestral iconographies of our indigenous cultures, more specifically the Totonaca culture, giving it a touch of contemporaneity to make it part of our time. This is how we create our mermaids, angels or Totonaca Goddesses. Tied to our collective memory, they are reborn endowed with a personal aesthetic vision while preserving the traits of their roots.
Roberto Rodriguez
(The Totonaca civilization inhabited mainly the State of Veracruz, the north of Puebla and the coastal region. Its temporal location refers to the year 800 AD in the late classic)
